A self-drive Albanian Riviera road trip follows the SH8 coastal corridor from Vlora over the Llogara crossing south to Saranda. From Vlora you reach Himarë in about 70 km / 1.5-2 hours; the 5.9 km Llogara Tunnel costs 250 ALL one-way and takes ~7 minutes, while the free Llogara Pass (~1,027 m) is the scenic alternative. Key legs: Palasë-Dhërmi ~12 km, Jalë-Himarë ~12 km, Himarë-Saranda ~53 km / 1h10. Three days is the sweet spot at ~1.5-2 hours driving per day; two is rushed, four to five is relaxed with the Gjipe canyon hike and the Saranda cluster (Ksamil, Butrint, Blue Eye). June and September are the best months. Rental cars from Corfu cannot cross to Albania, so Corfu arrivals travel on foot and rent in Saranda. Every beach is public by law (VKM 649).
